48 New Cannabis Winners In Missouri’s Second Lottery Round

Missouri's second round of the cannabis licensing lottery elected 48 applicants to obtain cannabis microbusiness permits, out of 2,000 applicants who applied between April 15-29.

This was the second random lottery drawing out of three rounds. Now, newly elected applications that join nine elected during the first round of licensing, are set for a review for eligibility.

Out of the total number, 33 were microbusiness wholesale licenses, while 24 were microbusiness retail permits, according to a press release by Missouri's Division of Cannabis Regulation.

DCR said that "no later than August of this year, a total of 57 microbusiness licenses will be issued," adding that "the lottery selection does not guarantee the applicant a facility license."

New Jersey Lawmakers Pass Psilocybin Bill Following Amendments To Remove Broad Legalization

In the meantime, New Jersey lawmakers gave the green light to an amended psilocybin measure this week.

S.2283, from Senate President Nick Scutari (D), was advanced by the Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee in a 6–2 vote on Thursday, reported Marijuana Moment.

This version of the bill includes a language that took out provisions that sought to legalize the possession, use and cultivation of psilocybin by adults, focusing on therapeutic access to the psychedelic instead.

These MMJ Products In Washington State Are No Longer Subject To Steep Taxes

A new law in Washington State that just took effect will exempt certain medical cannabis products from being subject to the state's 37 percent cannabis tax, reported Marijuana Moment.

Approved by Gov. Jay Inslee (D) earlier this year, the bill from Rep. Sharon Wylie (D) and two of her colleagues applies to products that were subject to higher testing standards than other products considered legal statewide. The law will be in effect until June 30, 2029.

Rhode Island's Cannabis Training Program

Meanwhile, in Rhode Island, the authorities are set to provide funding for those seeking to attend a cannabis training program.

The Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) is kicking off a Cannabis Training Program on Tuesday, July 9 at CCRI's Liston Campus in Providence. It will last for eight weeks. CCRI's collaboration with the state's Division of Workforce Partnerships is financially supported by the state Department of Labor and Training's Real Jobs RI initiative.

"CCRI's Division of Workforce Partnerships is always looking to be responsive to employer needs and we are proud and excited to create a training for this emerging industry," said Division of Workforce Partnerships VP Jennie Johnson. "We look forward to having a hand in creating a robust cannabis workforce."

North Carolina's First Rec Cannabis Store To Open This Summer

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Tribal Council in North Carolina passed a policy reform that amended the Tribal Code to make recreational cannabis sales legal in its dispensary on the Qualla Boundary.

The Tribal Council passed Ordinance 63 on Thursday in an 8-2 vote, allowing for the store to open by the end of summer, reported The Citizen-Times, Asheville. Marijuana sales are still illegal statewide.

The ECBI is a sovereign self-governed nation and a federally recognized tribe, which opened its first medical cannabis store this spring.
